2011 IRC champion Andreas Mikkelsen (Norway, Skoda Fabia S2000) made confident victory in Sibiu Rally, round eight of this year championship. Along with his co-driver Ola Floene, Mikkelsen left no chances for the other compettitors and ended with 5 minutes advantage to the second placed Patrick Flodin (Sweden, Ford Fiesta S2000). Last place on the podium in the Romanian debut in IRC was for the French rally legend Francois Delecour (Peugeot 207 S2000).
Many of the crews had serious problems with the hard conditions of the Romanian stages and this was the main reason for the big gaps at the end.
First place in the production cup was for Vitali Pushkhar (Mitsubish Lancer EVO X). Second was the local driver Edwin Keleti (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X) and third was another Romanian driver - Valentin Porcisteanu (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X).
French driver Robert Consani took another victory in the 2WD cup. For "Sibiu" he changed the usual Renault Megane RS with the older and stable on gravel Renault Clio R3. 1:20 minutes behind Consani finished Harry Hunt (Great Britain, Citroen DS3 R3T) and third in 2WD cup, 3:27 minutes behind the winner was the local driver Vlad Cosma (Citroen C2 R2).
