Sliven Rally will keep its place in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge calendar for 2012. This was revealed in a pressconference held by the organisators from MSC Sliven at Press Club Bulgaria. Taking part in the meeting with the media were the Deputy Clerk of the Course Atanas Chanev, GERB member of the parliament Desisalava Taneva and the former president of the Bulgarian Motorsport Association Alexander Alexandrov.
Atanas Chanev said that earlier this year the event lost his financial support and the organizers were facing serious problems in order to preserve the rally as part of IRC calendar.
"Everthing in the organisation was running smooth until the moment we found out tha we are having severe financial problems - were the first words of the Deputy Clerk of the Course Atanas Chanev. - The most important thing was to convince Eurosport to keep Sliven Rally in the calendar"- said Chanev.
The financial assitance which the event received by the government and all local GERB structures played a key role in keeping the status of the rally.
"As a member of the parliament elected from Sliven, and as a person born in Sliven, I am very happy that this rally will be held in my hometown, thanks to the vice prime-minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov who is also a president of the Organisation Commitee of the rally. The young and enthusiastic people in Sliven really desirve it"- said Mrs. Desislava Taneva.
Organizers expressed his deep gratitude to the media giant Eurosport for keeping their confidence in them and giving them the necessary time to deal with a difficult task.
