Dimitar Iliev/Yanaki Yanakiev (Skoda Fabia S2000) has clinched his first Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) victory in Rally Sliven as Bulgarian drivers dominated the whole event.
Bulgaria's reigning champion sealed his victory in the final stages when he extended his lead over second-placed Petar Gyoshev/Dimitar Spasov (Peugeot 207 S2000) who chased him throughout the whole rally. He came second 11,2 seconds behind.
Krum Donchev/Petar Yordanov (Peugeot 207 S2000) completed the all-Bulgarian podium of the rally which saw the sixth triumph of Dimitar Iliev.
Iliev had a 11,7 seconds advantage over Gyoshev at the start of the final day of the rally.
The latter was able to reduce the gap to only 10 seconds after the first two stages but in the end Iliev was able to pull ahead.
The 2WD star Todor Slavov/Dobromir Filipov (Renault Clio RS) finished fourth after an impressive showing in the first two days.
Varna-born Slavov finished 19,6 seconds ahead of Yagiz Avci who was behind the wheel of a S2000 Ford Fiesta. The latest winner of Rally Yalta started the last day with a 20 seconds penalty due to a late arrival in the service park.
Estonian Martin Kangur (Honda Civic Type-R) was seventh overall and was followed by Murat Bostanci (Ford Fiesta R2) and Robert Consani (Renault Megane RS).
The Top 10 was completed by Bulgarian Anton Titov (Citroen DS3).
An impressive drive by Ekaterina Stratieva (Citroen C2 R2 MAX) resulted in an 11th place at the end of the rally.
