Skoda Motorsport factory driver Jan Kopecky took the victory in "Targa Florio" Rally - round five of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The rally was stopped after the 8th special stage due to the tragic accident with car number 15. The crew Craig Breen - Gareth Roberts went off the road on a fast corner which was followed by a severe crash which cause heavy injuries to co-driver Roberts. Stage was stopped for the medical crews to assist Gareth bu unfortunately he passed away due ti the severe injuries he suffered.
Stewards of the meeting had a long discussion how to form the final standings of the event. At the end the victory went to Jan Kopecky, who made a very strong pace in the same stage and managed to move infront of the rally leader Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda Fabia S2000). The gap between them was just 8 tenths of a second. On the third place was Giandomennico Basso (Ford Fiesta RRC), who manged to close the gap to Kopecky to just 2.5 seconds.
Fastest in the 2WD class was the local driver Simone Campedeli (Citroen DS3 R3T), and in the Production class the victory was for Maximiliano Rendina (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X).
